Following January's "Msll777" single, we're proud to deliver Lil Asaf's Sawa Sawa. Produced by Beirut-born, Berlin-based artist Khadije, Sawa Sawa bundles fragmented sonics with Lil Asaf's devilish vocal performance. Air horns, chimes, blast beats and wheezing rhythmic arrangements make up Sawa Sawa's backing. The beats knock as much as they disarm, utilizing a capacious approach to empty space undergirded by a copious and pernicious drone.

Asaf, also known as Bashar Suleiman, has honed his hectic, dim lit approach to rap across previous releases for ANBA and HIZZ هز. Riding roughshod over his own and Khadije's production, Suleiman delivers line after line of scraped expression into the pitch dark spaces between beats. Dub effects and the flinty corners of broken kick patterns form walls to bounce off of, filled by repeated refrain and howling sub vocals.

Sawa Sawa means “together together,” a phrase Bashar’s grandfather would say to him and his brother when they fought as children. This spirit is embodied in the circumstances behind its recording, born from a chance meeting between the two artists and recorded in several impromptu sessions. Sawa Sawa is accompanied by a music video for “3wwe”, directed by Yusra Nazek.
